Writer & Illustrator

Laura Huskey (Lautaloa) is a Choctaw-Shawnee artist who loves to share her cultures through stories, language, and art. Weaving the stories and symbols of her heritage into her work, she hopes for Indigenous audiences to see themselves represented more in every genre (be it fantasy, science fiction, historical, or whatever else she can think of).

Her passion for illustration and storytelling grew from a lifelong love of children’s picture books, comics, and animated movies. Her works primarily cover themes of redemption, justice, and finding belonging (and fairies—lots of fairies).

Her screen name “Lautaloa” is derived from a combination of her English name, the Choctaw word “taloa” (song/singer), and her family nickname of “Loa.”
